Many enterprises grow organically, with diverse products managed by different teams. How does an organization "brand" itself and ensure consistency across its family of apps while leaving in flexibility to accommodate different contexts of use? Style guidelines can document and disseminate the organization’s UX principles and design patterns. A guidelines repository can potentially encompass everything that impacts the user experience: interaction design, information architecture, visual design, text, code, a user-centered design process, and user research studies. This presentation at the User Focus 2012 conference provided an overview of the process of developing, maintaining, and utilizing UX design guidelines. There is a list of resources at the end of the presentation.
